5 year old,7ft,18lbs female circle back laddertail....................

Hypoboa1 Nov 13, 2005 02:33 PM

Well I got this big girl hoping to atleast be able to produce some babies an hoping that the laddertail was genetically passed on to the babies!But she needs to have some tlc done with her before I can even think about breeding her so from the looks of things I am just sol on having any babies but its still early!These pic's are not mine an shes actually alot lighter than in the pic's!She is doing great an eating 2 jumbo's every 7 to 10 days!Well hope you all like an we will definatley see some action out of her next season!She's got a long tail also,Like Jayf's post below,If it wasnt for not seeing any spur's period I would have thought a huge male myself!But I was advised it probed a female!Hope everyone is having a great weekend!An thanks to everyone who helped me figure out what was wrong with her an get her better!Thanks Eric[Hypoboa]

What is LTC?

Hypoboa1 Nov 13, 2005 07:51 PM

>>What is LTC?

L.T.C=Long term care
T.L.C=Tender loving care

She's a big sweet heart just needs the added care she wasn't getting before she came to me an the store she came to me from.Hope this fixes the confusion.Thanks,Eric[Hypoboa]

But it's hard to use the strumming technique on a girl this big!I am just really surprized that she took to F/T rat's with all the bites she has on her back!An I just wanted to add,that she came to the person that I got her from this way!He didnt let it happen to her!Thanks Eric[Hypoboa]

yeah i dont think it would work on such a huge boa.
as far as feeding on f/t ...
the male i have who is huge (4yrs and an inch away from 7ft) was awlays fed live before i adopted him. he was left in with a large rat when he should have been eating small/med and got bit twice, once the teeth went in just above and below the eye.
he is by far the best feeder i have ever delt with. he will take anything any time (i only feed him f/t or pre killed). hes not shy about eating infront of anyone or anything and always eats within a few mins of putting the rat in the oppposite side of the cage.
good luck with her, rescues always seem to be the easiest to get attached to.

.. I was thinking it was one I produced and raised (and sold very early this year).. but the saddle-count is a little off.. here's a pic of the one I had..
.

.
.. I don't think she's in this baby photo, but she came from this litter in 1998...
.

.
I haven't produced many Colombian boa with more than 22-23 dorsal saddles (S-V).. but I know they are out there.. this next photo is of a sister to the one at top.. she has 23.
.

.
.. anyway, nice boa.. in the photo she doesn't look way too skinny to me.. it's your snake, but if I had it and wanted to breed her I'd not put a lot of weight on her. Here with our Boa it's more about when we feed as opposed to feeding a whole lot ..

Good luck.

where the ladder is on the tail they are connected on the sides except for the break an where the stripe start'sBut saddle coloration is very similar!As far as the weight,I am not as knowledgable as you Gus,I assumed that since she had some loose skin on her sides[alot] that she could use some meals.But I have been reading alot of the responces of feeding an I am a bit confused about feeding how much an how often.I will admit too that!From what I have learnt reding these posts below,I fed her today,She shouldnt need to be fed again for 2 weeks since she won't be bread this season?Or is the skin being loose fat build up?With the life she had I don't want her hurt anymore.Thanks for the compliment an any help.Eric[Hypoboa]
