looking to build a cage for a winter project any one with some good do-it- your-self designs, books or webs would help too.

I got your e-mail indicating this cage would be for a young Green Tree Python. I suggest you visit the caging section of FineGTPs.com - an excellent site I often recommend.
What characteristics are you looking for with this cage? A cage the snake can grow into or one that suits its needs for the short term? Do you want a cage that is as nice as possible, as light as possible, or one that is affordable? Or do you want some combination of the above (not always easy).
There are a lot of options depending upon what you want.
