Hi, sorry to ask this.....

Do waxworms cause more runny a stool?

And,

When a leo first poops, is the feces loose or formed?
I ask because i just saw my leo poop on paper towels and theres a distinct white part, the black part is mostly formed but also kinda runny around the edges. Also, all around the poop the paper towel looks wet, like it would if you put a drop of water on it. Is this normal?

I had fed a couple of waxworms with some mealworms last nite, thats why i asked about them.

Sorry for the graphics.........and thanks in advance

yea, dont worry about it. When I feed my leos butterworms it runnier than normal also. The reason how I figured it it was the butterworms is because I didnt feed any to him for a while and he feces was normal but yet when I feed him one again it was runnier again. So dont stress. How is your leo coming along. Getting any better?

Thankyou for the feedback. Honestly he's not doing good at all. When he eats on his own its few and far between, for the most part i'm still syringe feeding him. He's gotten skinnier too. Granted he'll fight me tooth and nail when its feeding time so he's still got energy, but he looks so bad i had expected him to pass a while ago. The vet doesn't know what to do, his tests came back negative.....i had hoped to find something even though it would confirm a problem, at least i'd know what it was and how to treat it. Worst part is he was doing better! I didn't want to post this but........ there have been a few times i thought it better to put him down. I hate saying that!!! I just have seen animals suffer and after all the meds, pretty much forcing him to eat and watching him wander around most of the time with his eyes closed i feel guilty for letting him go this long. I don't want to be thought of as a quitter, i AM trying. I just don't know what quality of life this is for him.

Thankfully my crested gecko Zeek is doing great. That helps when i get down about Leo.

Anyways, sorry for the long post......

i dont see u as a quitter...actually, in most cases regarding the dilemma whether to put a pet down or not, keeping the animal alive is more of a selfish act because we dont want to lose the pet. we aren't thinking of how the pet may be released from suffering, we are thinking of how we would suffer if we put it down. so putting an animal down that is truely suffering is not an act that of a quitter but an act of love. when u put an animal down, u are easing its suffering even though u are causing yourself emotional pain. u are saying that the happiness and comfort of that pet is more important than your own happiness...and its a very hard decision to make because we have this ingrained sense that we are giving up on them. but if your leo is suffering with physical pain and no cure, then by euthanizing him is not giving up on him, it is setting him free. i would wait a while before coming to a permanent decision...good luck with him, i hope he turns around and gets better!!!
