Smallest Tegu?

monocledcobra Nov 14, 2005 05:17 PM

I'm a newbie in the world of Tegus. I would like to know which species of Tegu remains the smallest? Also which one would be the best "pet" I guess you could say. I would love to get a larger lizard but I do not like savanah and nile monitors, and I am firmly against Iguanas. Thanks for the help

THe smallest tegu i believe is the gold tegu, which also has the worst atitude. Argentine black and whites make good pets as well as blue tegus, which i have. Acquire a tegu at a younge and form a trusting bond with it, tame it. black and whites are larger than blues. They will both make good pets if you work at it. These can be costly with food caging lighting etc. Think before you buy. And if you do decide to buy good luck.

The Smallest True Tupinambis is the ,Tupinambis longilineus from brazil. I think they dont get much bigger than 12-18". They are also very rare and will never be seen in the pet trade.

Yes your right but realistically speaking seeing that i have never heard of any one breeding this species fo tegu i told him the gold tegu.
