Kraft Paper

Jeff Clark Nov 14, 2005 09:43 PM

....I bought several rolls, some with indents and some plain. I am going to try it out. I ordered it from Uline.com. I got one of their roll cutters and it just does not work on the heavier indented paper. Works great on the 60 pound plain paper though. This stuff does look lots nicer than the newspaper. After the work of cutting it into the right size pieces which is only a little harder than sorting through newspaper and pulling out the ads and turning all the pages in the same direction this paper actually goes into the cages easier than the newspaper.

using something similar on some of our Leopard Geckos and baby Bearded Dragons and both Sean and I really like it a LOT! We precut a bunch to fit and when it's time to clean, we just change it out. It's works so much nicer than sand for the geckos/dragons because it's not dusty like the sand is and doesn't irritate their eyes. We've been using it on them for the past month and so far so good!

We haven't tried it on any snakes yet but I'm sure it would work equally well on them. It's thicker and cleaner (no newsprint ink) than newspaper. We haven't had a chance to try the indented stuff yet so that'll be next!

Thanks,
Celia

indented craft paper for a few months now. LOVE IT, no more inky paper. The brb's can make a mess, more than the paper can absorb but then again, it'd be more then the newspaper did either? When they let go, it's time to clean

Like Celia, I precut stacks, keep them handy on top of the cage stacks. a quick fold up and toss of soiled paper, spritz and wipe down the cage with nolvasan, put in the new liner and ready for the snake to return. I cut my liners oversize by a couple of inches each way, this way they ride up the sides a little and catch almost all of the stuffed in corner and deposited along cage wall "stuff".

1, cuts better when held to the roll. I hold the cutoff piece in my left hand, pull one corner to tear while holding the cutter to the roll and preventing the roll from turning.

2, I use peices of pvc pipe as gauges for the various lengths I use. lots quicker than measuring each piece or holding a master piece up as gauge. When I cut more, I cut a bunch.....like a hundred of a size for those sizes I regularly use.

3, cut the paper oversize so it will go up the sides of the enclosure by an inch. What works for me is to cut 2" wider than needed. To put in cage, I hold the sides with the back lots higher than the front. I align the middle of the front edge of the paper with the middel of the front edge of the floor (I don't have the paper go up that side only). Then holding the paper against the front of the cage with one hand, I slide the other back to the middle of the rear wall. Then slide the rear hand to one corner, pressing the paper into the corner as I go. Then I switch hands and do the other corner. Lastly, I run my fingers along the sides (back to front) to press the paper into the side corners.
