New to Milks Questions??

edthepug Nov 14, 2005 10:40 PM

I have had Corns for several years. A friend of mine recently gave me a Pueblan Milk Neonate ( approx. 13 inches) He is a GREAT eater of frozen pinks. he is very sweat and NEVER bites, but is is exremely BUSY and is kind of hard to hold ( eventually calms down and constricts my fingers) Are Pueblans notoriously flighty or will he calm down with age??? From my brief readings on this site, it seems that Pueblans are not the Milk of "choice". Should I keep working with this guy or resign myself to the fact that he will only be a beautiful "looker". Any advice is greatly appreciated!

I have an '05 Jaliscoo and he's the same way. Craps/musks all over me every time I pick him up, but then he'll curl up in my hand to get warm. If I don't "hug" him a bit with my fingers when he's actively moving through my hands, I know he'd bolt. I think this is all natural and shows a healthy animal.

Supposedly, with lots of handling they grow out of this. The key word is that they tolerate it more...

Pueblans are not calm as babies and are one of the few milks which don't seem to enjoy handling as adults. Some of mine have become as tame as corn snakes, but most remain "on the move" when handled, even when full grown.
