First lined leaftail hatchling!!!

honuman Nov 15, 2005 01:02 PM

Just had my first hatchling linneatus!! So cute. It's a male.
Wow what difference between this guy and my phant. hatchlings.

Took 91 days. Not bad, I guess.

I set him up on papertowel with fresh cut bamboo and some artificial plants to hide in. I've misted him really well and aparently he shed right after he hatched because he has a bit of skin left on right rear leg.

Is the setup I gave him sufficient or should I use some sort of substrate? The paper towel is slightly moist too to help keep the humidity elevated.

hey, congratulations!
i've got a few questions for ya if you don't mind me asking
what is your set-up like?
do you use UV lighting
how long have you had your group and what does it consist of male:female?
thanks

honuman Nov 15, 2005 03:05 PM

I have had a pair for around 6 months or so. They mated a couple of days after I got them and they then the female laid about 3-4 weeks after they mated.

I keep them in a a well planted (the plants are all potted) tall tank (20"x20"x36". I also have thick bamboo crisscrossing in the tank like perches in a bird cage. Substrate is cypress mulch. I mist them well twice Daily. I have a southern wall that is all glass and sliding doors and they get direct light from that. The plants grow like crazy too.

congradulations!!! I have a gravid female linned right now. where do they like to layt their eggs? any help would be appreciated

My girl looks pretty gravid again too. They usually lay near the base of plants. Mine laid in the middle of a bird's nest fern.

Good luck.

Thanks. He's a cutie. Hope the second will be hatched by tomorrow. I like the fact that he is BIG. The Phants make me so nervous when they hatch. Especially if they need an assist with shedding.

Hopefully things will go smoothly with this little guy.

I hatched out 2.0 and have three eggs going still. I have them in a ten gallon with bamboo branches vertically oriented.

I have 2.2 at the moment in a 60 gallon sterilite. They are doing moderately well but definitey prefer the shower and plants more.

No UV yet. Still working on the cages.
