2 questions: Snake Submersion & Feces consistancy

xenostalgia Nov 15, 2005 09:31 PM

1: I put my snake in his large tupperware bowl after refilling it. His head went under water for 1-2 seconds and he resurfaced. I know they are a reptile and know how to swim etc but is it bad that they put there headu nder water?

2: My snake deficated in his large tupperware bowl and it seemed to be 'cloudy' brown with a few pieces of white intestines I'm gathering (F/T mouse). Is it bad or good that he deficated in water?

Thanks!

1. If the water container is large enough you might see them actually flippin' their tongue in and out while they check out the bottom. No harm will come to them.
2. A warm water bath is often used to help in constipation problems. It relaxes and loosens them up and they will go in the water. It's messy, and yeah you'll have to change it, but it won't harm them.

I have a couple of normals that seem to always "drop their load" in the water. It is very messy but not harmful or something to worry about IMO . . . .
