breeding

KURMA Jul 22, 2003 05:24 PM

I plan to always have be trio in there own cages. So when breeding does it matter if the females goes in the the male cage or male in female?

You can do either or. If by chance some one happens to be more territorial and is being aggressive take that individual and place him/her in the others cage. Best of Luck.

with most lizards it's best to introduce the female into the males enclosure sine the males are territorial-crested's can alos be kept in colonies as long as it's just 1 male-good luck

Why do you say that? In my 11 years experience with leopard geckos, It is my experience that there is less aggression when introducing a male into the females enclosure. I do the same with my beardeds. As mike said, either way is fine, you just need to watch out for over aggressive behavior.

as far as any lizards go introducing the female to the males set-up is the safest since the male is in in own territory-if placed into the females it is not used to be in a unknown environment and may act overly aggressive-I have also kept and breed many types of herps over the past 10 years and worked for a zoo-I've never had any problems with this method w/beardeds or any type of chams-if it works that's fine but that's not my experience or what I've read in numerous books/articles
