day 170

army11 Nov 15, 2005 11:02 PM

i hate to ask stupid questions, but i am a bit stumped here.
my girl is on day 170. her temps have been between 85 and 90 the entire time and she is as healthy as can be. i had x-rays done on day 160 and the vet said she was fine and there was no blockage...
so whats the deal??? is this something that happens every once in a while or what??? i have never had a girl go past day 150 and this is my 17th clutch with red tails... and my second with this girl...

for what its worth, she is 9.5 feet and currently 18 inches around where babies are located... and her body temp is 83 degrees...

hoping for a little insight here, maybe a similar case... the stress is starting to get the best of me...

thanks

SH

If you mean the POS, that is way off. 90% of my boas drop babies within 100-110 days after POS. Are you sure your starting from the POS or are you counting from introduction of the male or what?

she ovulated twice... i took the male out the second time and started my count from their... and she is now on day 171... x-rays confirmed she was carying alot of babies and i can feel them moving around if you move your fingers on the under side of her belly, so the babies are alive and well...

i just dont understand how she could carry for this long...
i am taking her in again on friday for more x-rays...

any suggestions would be helpful...

I assume that you are joking and you really are just making this stuff up as you go, the post sounds like BS to me, afterall most people who have had enough experience with breeding boas know that after about the 17th Clutch, you realize that they are litters right LOL. At 170 days I think you are ready to introduce the male for this season again LOL. Maybe she had the babies and ate them?

your temps are cooler, thus it is taking her longer to gestate them? I don't know...a wild guess...hope the babies stay ok.
