Well it was a somewhat productive weekend...I went there to do some dental work but had some time off so I went to Brazos Bend State park on the way saw a couple Atrox DOR and at first what I thought was a Atrox but when I slowed down was a yearling Alligator DOR...Did save a turtle(will post pics soon) dont know what kind it was covered in mud and moss, saw some frogs, alligators, deer, and different birds at the park alas no snakes well other then dead ones on the road. Also saw an armadillo for the first time again DOR so it was fun although no snakes spotted. I will post pics soon

Sounds like a good time. I found another hognose on Thursday I believe, a nice male. Did not do much looking...found a nice rat snake on Friday crossing a creek out west and Scott (sepultura4ever) found another right after that. Would you perhaps share where you saw those atrox? I understand if you do not want to though. The closest I have found them was down about 10 or 15 min from the beach, and those were DOR as well. I havnt found any around Houston alive ever, my first was out in the hill country. If you are ever back down here and want to do some cruising or want to see a spot that is guaranteed to produce (or at least it normally does) just drop me a line. cant wait to see the pics. Happy herping.

It was actually on the way to Brazos Bend State park its about oh 40 min southeast(i think) of Houston. My hotel was in Rosenberg(sp) and I saw a sign for the park and thought Id go and thats when I saw the atrox and the alligator and armadillo DOR I should have went night driving I could have definately seen some snakes but Im lazy and was tired after havin my mouth open for 8 hours eac day Plus I didnt have a computer down there either so that kind of sucked or I would have def. posted here and went with you guys..here are some more stats on it. It was ran over pretty well but from what I could tell it was around 3.5 ft long was prety hefty snake too bad I didnt get a chance to get it alive . I think I will def be back down there sometime this year 3 days wasnt long enough!!!

Nice size snake. The one we found had been run over a few times and the tail had been cut off right at the rattle. It was a large snake...my guess is that it was hit on purpose. People these days...Andy
