Hi, New Here!!

asia2003 Nov 16, 2005 09:33 AM

Hi All,

I am the proud new mommy of a female ball named "Gar" We are not sure how old she is, but she is a good 2-3ft long. She was sold as a male, but the lack of any kind of spurs are tipping the scale in the favor of a female.

Just thought I'd introduce myself....here is a pic....and yes, she is a climber!

Welcome, nice looking snake. I just found out one of my females is a climber as well. Forgot to lock both latches last night and found her on top of my computer this morning. Good luck with him and happy holidays(I guess its close enough to say that). Tim

Thanks for the warm welcome!!

So far Gar has been a complete joy to have, she hasnt eaten anything yet, but we have only had her for a couple days and she is still settling in. Does anyone have any tried and true feeding methods??

Tnx,

Welcome and congratulations!

Just so you know - all balls have spurs - they do get damaged, sometimes lost and some less savory ball people have been known to remove them to sell a male as female to someone that does not know any better. If it's important to you to know - then have him/her properly sexed, if not - then you can pretty much call it whatever you like - she won't mind (even if she is a he!). LOL

Welcome to the forum!

Wow, deception is something else!!

I really don't mind whether Gar is a male/female, it makes no difference to me! I'll either have a big sweet boy, or a bigger sweet girl

Thanks...

Aren't there people out there who do similar deceptive surgeries on men?

my wife and I used to think that our female ball was a male. Back then she was a horrible eater, didnt grow, not unheathly necessarily but maybe 1 mouse every 2 weeks (at this size she should have been eating small-med rats) anyway, when we had her sexed and found out it actually was a girl, changed her name and seriously that week she ate 2 small rats in 10 days and now eats like a champ and has been ever since that day.
Just thought id share a wierd story
