Leopard frog-hibernation?

Pickle9705 Nov 16, 2005 10:29 AM

We live in Michigan and caught a leopard frog over the summer. Now it is November and the frog would be hibernating in the wild by now. He seems to be slowing down, eating less and moving around less. Do I need to hibernate him? I searched the internet have have found few answers. I think I do need to hibernate him for about three months according to my research but how do I do this? I was thinking about putting some reptile bark in a container and putting him in the fridge. And when it warms up in the spring, put him back in his aquarium. Any feedback would be gratly appreciated.

im not sure where they would be hibernating in nature, it may be in the water. try going to the forum at fishpondinfo.com. the lady who runs it is Robyn and she will definitely be able to help you.
