BD "growth chart"?

JonPCab Nov 16, 2005 12:05 PM

I'm setting up for a BD right now and will be choosing one in a few days. About how old is a 11-12" beardie? (total length, of course) The one I'm going to get is about that, 8 1/2 of those inches are his big ol tail. lol

anyway thanks
Jon

IT's not easy to judge the age of a bearded dragon by size. It all depends on the individual growth rates of the dragon, how much it's fed and how big it's appetite is. a 11-12" bearded dragon can be anywhere between 3-6 months of age. Bearded dragons are typically around 4-5" out of the egg, though some can be as small as 2-3" out of the egg. Most reach 6-8" total length in the first 6 weeks of life, though some take a bit longer to reach that length. Unless the dragon is starved or plagued by parasites, dragons should be at least 10" by 6 months of age.
