Devloping Traits

kimusubi Nov 16, 2005 12:13 PM

Is it possible for boa to develop traits like circlebacks, redder tails, widows peaks, etc over time even though they haven't had it as neonates? One of my BCIs never had any form of connecting saddles or patterns, but recently its starting to develop on some parts of her body. So I was wondering if this is possible or likely for any other traits. I've also heard lots of stories of brown tails turning into red tails as they age. Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

Color will change, either from better to worse or worse to better. But, my boas have never had pattern change. If that started happening, picture genetic documents would mean nothing due to the changing patterns. I do know that boa often have dark pigment come in more as they mature, perhaps that is what is happening. If you can post before and after shots, we can see what is happening.

Well, it looks a bit more than just a dark pigmantation, but it might just be. I'm not too familiar with these things. She gets this every once in a while after a shed, and it's only one one side.

Here she is without it connecting:

Here is the same exact area of her body at the current moment but with it connecting:

Here she is at a different time, but still its there:

And here are other parts of her body at the current time, that are not connected:

This usually comes and goes. So it's not always there. So it made me think whether that was possible to happen to the rest of her. And also, whether other traits are also able to be developed over time.

Well, I have no idea what it is. But I sure wouldn't mind if she ended up becoming a circle back. lol
