A frequent visitor and major contributor to the hognose forum, Dr Brian G. Fry, has been doing more venom research. On top of milking Western Hognoses, he has also found that plenty of lizards are venomous. Here we are, constantly having debates over whether or not a snake with fangs is venomous! But now Bearded Dragons?? This goes to show that we all need to think beyond the predescribed boundaries. Harmless snakes can be venomous, and Easterns won't die if they are fed mice.
Study shows more to a lizard bite than a nasty nip
LEIDEN, Netherlands (Reuters) - More lizard families than previously believed are venomous, including several species that are popular pets, scientists said on Wednesday.
His team of international scientists isolated crotamine -- the classic venom of rattlesnakes whose bite can be fatal to humans -- in the eastern bearded dragon, a popular pet.
