Other mexicana to work with next year...

jlassiter Nov 16, 2005 06:32 PM

Other than thayeri I will also try and produce some Albino and het albino Ruthveni, Black/dark phase Mexmex, Splitband Mexmex (hopefully dark and splitband) and if the male Greeri is up to it some of those too......Not to mention the other stuff I work with like calking, brooksi, splendida, holbrooki and hondurans.....

Here are the male Mexmex.....

Here are the female Mexmex...

And the Albino male Ruthveni and het female...

Thanks for looking,
John Lassiter

What can I say to all of your and VICHRIS' serpents, except WOW!!! Y'all can't go wrong. What ever y'all do.... just keep doing it, because you are doing it RIGHT! Can't wait to see next year's results.

Thanks for the compliments Paul.....I am really anticipating next year and I am sure Chris is too.
Every year at this time I start thinking about little snakes poking their heads out of their eggs.....That has got to be the best part of this hobby......In my opinion....

...would love to see more folks post mex mex, and you really should sell me that second female to pair up with my brown male.

I added nine new mex mex babies to my group this year including a very nice speckled trio, male yet to arrive.

A couple recent pics of the '04 brown male...

I can't wait to see what those mex mex's produce, John. I love all mexicana spp., but I have to say the L. mex mex is my favorite maybe because that was the first mexicana in my collection and started all this insanity.

Another devoted mex mex lover comes to the rescue! That mexicana is looking terrific Uncloudy, is that one of your Appelgate animals? How many are in your collection now?

Thanks for the compliment Uncloudy......I can't wait to see what they will produce this coming season....I hope to have better luck with them this time around....this year was dismal, but it can only get better I think........
Do you think I should try to pair the splitbanded male with the dark female or pair my dark male with her and potentially produce all dark offspring??? I will make up my mind when the time comes I guess.....
Again thanks Chris,

John, I think the dark male with the dark female would be the most interesting to see if they do produce all dark offspring or some light colored ones. Splitband to splitband pairing would cool to see the results also. Either way with mex mex you can't loose.
Mike, right now I have 2 mexicanas. 1.0 '04 MSP thayeri and 1.0 '04 San Luis Potosi mex mex. My mex mex are from Applegate and I used the have a 1.1 pair of the San Luis Potosi's. I made a big mistake one time of letting a friend, who begged me to keep the female mex mex for a while and she passed away in his collection. That will never happen again.
I'm going to be trading out my '04 MSP thayeri and a huge male 50/50 calking to a very good herping buddy who is an excellent calking breeder and plans to start breeding some thayeri also. I will be adding for sure a female albino calking and a female mex mex for the male mex mex. I've wanted mex greeri's in the collection for a long time and with this addiction I'm bound to end up with them someday.
Happy Herping,
Uncloudy

Chris.....I guess I will make up my mind when the time comes.....and I hope you are right....I don't think I can loose with any mexmex pairing......I still want to breed the splitband male to the dark female, but that did not work this year......I am contemplating using my new dark male on her to see what would prevail.......Keep you posted.....
