How long is too long for eggs to hatch????

Chameleon996 Nov 17, 2005 09:43 AM

My veileds bred and she layed her eggs, and everything was going fine. Then it happened, I was incubating at room temp (mid 70's in my reptile room) this summer when my AC went out and my eggs experienced very high temps (90 - 100) for a few days. Needless to say I lost over half the clutch, only 10 survived. My calculations had them hatching the beginning of Oct. they were layed on Easter. They have still yet to hatch.

Any ideas????????

Depending on the variances with conditions, the eggs should hatch anywhere between 6 - 8 months after being laid. There have been some reports of eggs being hatched after 5 months, and after 9 months. Under ideal conditions, you should see them hatch after 7. Although high temperatures, and low, can cause serious birth defects, and even cause the eggs not to hatch at all.

Good luck with your little ones!
