I don't think that this species is very common in the trade, though it's a pretty cool snake. Does anyone want to take a guess?

No, but you're warm. That snake was quite emaciated, so it doesn't give a good impression of the normal build. Quite stocky snakes. They also have interesting reproductive biology, and the current generic name is sketchy at best.

Hime Habu. Trimeresurus, err, Ovophis okinavensis.

I'd say yes, it has some very Hypnale flavors, but, as far as I know, the current generic status is bogus. This snake deserves a unique generic title.
