Pet store rip off

Dead_Dog Jul 22, 2003 07:09 PM

Well when I went to buy a gecko my I notice that they didnt make a good pet, so when we where leaveing, my father notice the uro in a tank near the gecko tank. We picked her up and the pet store guy put her down and she ran around, he would put his hand in front of her and she would turn around. Yhen the guy said we could take her home, but he then canged his mind for we had a smaller tank then need. Well when we went to pick "her" up there was a male Mali laying there. HE father said "Its not the same one that I looked at, this one is yellow and black, the other was tan, and the dont change in two day!" The man said no its the same one. When we got home he was scared of corse, but even today he has a bad attidute. He is the oppesit of the gril we looked at! HE goes over your hand! Not turn around! Well I do love him and wouldnt give him up for anthing. But I am still sowhat mad from this swich. I know that Im being dum but Im worred posr back!

Let me just clarify what i got from yur post...
1) You had a cage that was the correct size for a gecko, not a uro, then you got a new cage that was big enough.
2) You think a gecko is a bad pet, so you chose a uro
3) The female would run away from the hand
4) The male goes onto your hand
5) you are mad that he doesn't run away from your hand but concerned that he goes onto your hand...
Ok from that information i have to say that i would have chosen the one who went onto your hand! It shows he is less intimiated by a human. If you wanted one you could handle more often then the male is probably the better choice if he is already ok with going even near your hand! The petstore guy seemed to have the right ideas in mind i think. If you had a small tank he was correct in making you wait and buy a larger one for the comfort of the animal. I would assume that he sold the female, Uros i have found are pretty easy to sell in the pet stores, because they don't need crickets and such. I really wouldn't be concerned that your uro goes onto your hand either its probably a good thing. A gecko is a great choice of a lizard also, they are a great 1st lizard. If i understood the post wrong i am sorry, please post again further if i did...
A few questions for you though:
Is this your first lizard?
Why did you choose the uro over the gecko?
Did you get it a larger cage?
Hope you enjoy your new addition!

Well this uro is not my frist lizard, I got a bigger cage, we put a hold on the female uro (half the price), I didnt mean to say that a gecko is a sucky pet I was more into handleing, the female wouldnt run away, but could controlle it easy, like wear it is heading etc.
