Different Anery Type 1 or II...........

Hoppy Nov 17, 2005 06:43 PM

Is there really no one out there that has breed the two different Anery Boa together to see if they are really not the same gene? I find that amazing. Did everyone actually just assume that they were different because they looked different? So If a Normal Colombian is a Type 1 and a Nic is Type II and Gus is calling his a Type III does that mean my Anery Leticai (which is really a Peruvian Boa, check the map, even looks like dwarf peruvians) does that make it a Type 4? There has be someone out there that has checked to make sure right???? Why else would Anery Nics cost $1000.00 if they were not different LOL. I recently Saw a possible type "V" Anery from Belize although the person selling it called it a type II blue Phase? but could not find an adult female from Belize to breed it to.

Somebody please tell me that they tried breeding the two Anerys and it did not work (like in the Corn Snakes) and that this has not just been a myth for the past 7 years LOL.
Thanks

I believe Tracy Barker and Jeremy Stone both said that the type 2 anery trait is passed on differently then type one. That is why the type 2 snow has not been produced yet and why only a couple pewters exist.

Let's not jump on the same bandwagon of those that have only seen them in pictures and are all of a sudden experts. I'm not talking about you Jim; I just recall seeing someone in here last week that said he knew they were the same strain.

Hopefully either Jeremy or Tracy will see this post and shed a little more light of their breeding trials.

I have heard about the Type II anery for years and years, but I have never come accross a person that even knew who the person was that did the breeding trials on them to prove them out LOL,
I'm just curious as to thinking if someone did. Hopefully Tracy or Jeremy will jump in, but the Barkers have just recently(5-7 years now) started working with Boas, so I doubt it was Tracy. Maybe next year I will work on it with some of my aniamsl and see what the traits do. I have the genetics for both. Maybe I will try and produce Type II Ghosts? I was just hoping that someone had already done the work and would save me the time in proof of it, and the mistakes that come with trial breedings.
Thanks

Not sure if you have seen the pewter boa but Tracy produced it using the type 2 anery, so she knows a little about how the trait is passed on.

Gus isn't calling any Boa a Type III anerythristic.. I did say the animal was looking anery, if it was Anery we would likely know in a few years and that I liked the way it looked..

The reference to it being Type III was all in fun.. just like my references to 'circlebacks' et-al.. I think you should claim the Type III label for your next anery Boa... that way if mine turns out to be anery in a few years I'll say it is Type IV.. and I win! .. or probably it will be Type X by then..

Wow, that's a cool name TYPE 10!

On the subject of anerys.. I'm thinking that anerythrism should be expressed on the same gene in any boa and that the different looks should be compatible.. but what do I know of Morphs?

Be safe.
