Chip is gaining weight!

PHRatz Nov 18, 2005 11:06 AM

He's put on about 8 grams as of today. I am so happy to see him gaining now. whooooooooo hoooooo
It wasn't a fluke that first day... I am seeing it every day, when he feels the food landing in his stomach he stops moving and seems content with it happening.
Hopefully soon he'll be interested in eating something on his own. :::crossing fingers::::

Always good to hear about an animals putting on weight becoming healthy. I have had goodl uck with cactus fruit/berry in my tutles, both for getting them to eat and put on weight fast. It is really good for WC specimens, and they seem to have a natrual attraction to it.

Oh yes the cactus berries are a favorite here too.
Chip though is the badly injured one who will not eat on his own yet, he's refused the berries so far.. but when we get him to start eating on his own & we WILL do that... I'll bet that cactus berries will be a favorite for him too.
We picked some fresh berries 3-4 weeks ago, very red ripe berries, they all look like vampire turtles when they finish eating those lol.

WOOHOO GO CHIP! Glad he is gaining weight My sick leopard gecko finally started eating on her own after 3 months of not eat and being fed via syringe. (just happy and wanted to share, lol).

Maybe once his weight gets up to where its supposed to be you should stop feeding him and see if hunger will get him to eat. Just watch his weight and set a limit and when he gets down to the limit start feeding him via the tube again. Mikey's heighest weight has been 356 grams if you need a comparision weight Hes slightly over 4 inches long I think.

For now we'll see what the vet says after she's seen his weight gain record. We started him off slowly & right now she wants him fed 4 times a day. Next week she'll check his gain record & we'll go from there. I need to try a plate of food again soon to see if he'll eat on his own or not.
He sure does seem to feel better today though. Yipppeeee!
btw got a brand new camera last night so I don't have to use the duct taped one anymore. LOL
I'll get some good shots of him soon.

Since we've upped his food intake he's gone from 345 grams on Monday to 362 grams as of this morning! I'm impressed!
