Omg! Help! Sunday night I won 2 anoles at the county fair. I've been doing research and whatever and setting up thier home. They at this point are still living in the large plastic terranium I brought them home in. So tonight I came home to work on thier aquarium some more.. and I looked and my female as laid an egg! I'm still learning on how to care for her, what am I supposed to do? Can I still put crickets in there or will they eat the egg? How long does it take the egg to hatch? Should I leave it in with the other lizards or remove it? Help me

If you haven't already, check out the anole care site through Kingsnake.com: http://www.kingsnake.com/anolecare/

There's tons of information there for your general research, if not for the egg questions. If that doesn't answer everything, maybe someone more knowledgable than me will have given you more information here by then. I don't know what's the best thing to do with the egg, but I do know that if it hatches, the adults will promptly eat the hatchling.

Good luck!

Hey, I used to have anoles and mine laid an egg once. Some caresheets tell you to get vermiculite, put it in a container, bury the egg in it and keep it moist and warm. Sometimes, though, the eggs that your anoles lay won't be fertilized, so they won't hatch anyway. If you can find out whether your egg is fertilized you can try this. If possible separate the egg in the vermiculite away from the adult anoles so it doesnt get eaten when it hatches.

Good luck to you
