i recently did somthing similar after reading about it...i figured it wouldnt hurt
..I just print them on Business cards and slide them into business card holders with adhesive backs, that are attached to the cage doors.
They're convenient because as I move snakes into larger cages, I can just replace tags and/or if I were to get bitten, I can just grab the card and take it with me to the hospital.
Non-venomous cages...I simply don't label, so I know if its got a card, the cage is hot. Its just my system and works for me.

Matt's is the exact same way as I do mine including the plastic sleaves, apart from along the top of the card I have "In the event of a bite take this card along with the patient to the hospital."

"Its no help to hide behind the statement that snake bite accidents are a rarity and that the average Dr seldom or never will treat one. For the bitten patient, it is a matter of life or death, and the rarity of the event is of no interest to him."
I also use the business card size which also fits in the pouch in my protocal book labeled BITE ANIMAL! I have the same info on my cards as Matt does. When & who I got it from, collection data if avaialble, and antivenin required.

i dont have any hots yet (hopefully for x-mas im getting an eyelash) but i lurk here a lot, im an RVT and in school we went over legal aspects of A LOT! and i know if your dog bites someone on your property its usually ok because the dog was protecting your home, but if you have sign that says BEWARE OF DOG and your dog bites then you are liable because the sign shows you knew your dog would bite. the signs are a GREAT!! idea, but id be care full in this sue happy world of lawers and all the laws herp keepers are already having to deal with. just something to think about!
happy herping!

You have the dog thing backwards...If a dog bites someone on your property you're liable for it UNLESS you have signs posted that say "Beware of Dog" This gives the approaching person warning that the house and grounds they're about to enter has a dog that may cause damage to them if they trespass into its territory. My mother is a paralegal and we've had to deal with this issue in the past due to the types of dogs we have...

in good old NC, if you know your dog will bite (and putting the sign up is proof of that) then you get in trouble, at least when we had our class on animals and the law thats what we were told.
at least if my pit mix ever bites anyone ill be ok, he was rescued by animal control (who puts down most pits) and labled a "english bulldog rot mix" and adopted out to us!
