Best place to buy a camera?

Mizzourah Nov 18, 2005 08:30 PM

I have finally made up my mind to get an Olympus C-8080. I want to get the best price I can. Does anyone have any places they would recommend? I'd appreciate hearing feedback.

Thanks,
M.C.

I've bought a lot of cameras in stores and online and I don't use anyone but B&H camera anymore (bhphotovideo.com). They are dependable and there prices are very competitive. They also won't string you along or try and sell you more stuff like the other companies.

There are a lot of online sellers who will offer you a really low price. However, they scam you by forcing you to call to "confirm" your order. When you call, they try and sell you stuff that is supposed to already come with the camera (batteries, chargers, etc) and refusing to send it to you if you don't buy the "extra" stuff. Check out resellerratings.com if you are unsure about a company.

I second B&H.. I only buy online from B&H.. I honestly prefer the local camera store though if they have what I need..

I third B & H. I've ordered a few times from them with no problems. I spent a lot of time checkin out online retailers and B & H was by far the most recommended. Best selection, too. I'm looking to get an Ewa-Marine PVC housing from them in the spring.

I've bought several times from BHphoto.com and haven't had a problem. KEH.com is also good. But neither of these is currently listing your item. DPreview.com shows two online stores listing it. I've had good luck with getting a few things from ebay.com too.

Good luck.
