Couple questions about breeding leopard geckos

TheCrimsonGhost Nov 18, 2005 10:48 PM

I want to try to breed leopard geckos and I have a couple of questions. I have an empty boaphile plastics cage and I wanted to put a colonie of leopard geckos in it. The cage measures 4'x2'x1'. Is this too big of a cagefor them to feel comfortable enough to breed in? I am going to put alot of hides and multiple feeding and water dishes in it. How many females could I house with a male in this size cage? Just wanted to get some opinions from other people on this possible future project. I mainly breed boas but want to try something new.

I think it's ok for that size cage. You can house roughly between 7 to 9 females for your male. Make sure it's only one male though. (you probably already know that). One gecko only needs between 100-140sq. inches of space. Your cage has 1152sq. inches of floor space. just divide and you'll get your answer. Hope everything works out for ya!
