Western Hognose shedding question

zhiv9 Jul 22, 2003 08:30 PM

I tried to feed my hognose a week ago monday and he wasn't at all interested. I noticed that his colouration was looking muted, so I assumed that he would shed soon. On thursday his eyes turned blue the way they usually do before he sheds. On saturday his eyes cleared up. I checked him today and he looks like he has already shed. The problem is I can't find his skin anywhere! I searched his entire tank and found nothing. Do snakes ever eat what they shed? I didn't think snakes they did.

Any help or thoughts appreciated

Thanks

I am sure that somewhere in the world there is a species of snake that eats its own skin, but hognoses do not that I am aware of. Amphibians and lizards mostly do that. Your hognose probably has not shed yet.
