baby gerbils

geckoluver101 Jul 22, 2003 08:41 PM

Is it ok to feed baby gerbils to leos or do they have to be mice? They are pretty small when they are born. Thanks

if they are as small as newborn mice then yes you can probably feed a pink to your leo as long as the leo is an adult and is large enough to handle it (7-8 inches). give a pink once a month.

Is that they get a bit larger than mice, about double the size of a mouse. So the pinkies are larger.

I know one of my females is huge and gobbles down fuzzy mice no problem, so there shouldn't be a problem with gerbil pinks with her. At least...if gerbils were legal where I live now...lol

If you have 1 or 2 day old gerbils and a large adult leo, then go for it. Just be sure that they're not too big for your leos.

would not see why not day old pinkies would be the same. I have fed gerbils to my snakes in times of need.

I raise gerbils... So I have a pretty steady supply of gerbil pinks which my female leo takes readily.. though usually only one a month... She won't take more than that.. I tried during her egg laying... *shrugs* I have 4 breeding pair of gerbils... My Savannah monitor gets any culls that I don't need for their coloring.. and the leo's get any pinks that happen to stem from inbreeding....
