what is the ave size of a black tegu...from head to cloaca...not to tail...is it like 3-4 feet or so.
any info on them would be awesome

The largest Colombian Tegu that I've seen (I'm assuming this is what you have since you mentioned a "gold" tegu) was approximately 13 inches SVL. They don't get as long as the Argentine Tegus. We just took in a Colombian rescue that is about 9 inches SVL. He's a lovely animal and is not too bad temperament wise. I'll see if I can post a pic later.

My gold male is about 1.5 yrs, 10" SVL and growing. I'll try to post some pics after he's done shedding.
He was a bit battle damaged when we got him, missing tail tip & a toe. The toe is almost completely regrown. That's been neat to watch.
