THAT WONT EVEN HOUSE ONE BABY INTO ITS FIRST YEAR!! IT WILL LAST IT ABOUT 5 MONTHS. AN IGUANAS HOME SHOULD BE 1 1/2 TIMES AS LONG AS IT IS ATLEAST THAT DEEP AND ATLEAST 6 FEET TALL THROGHOUT ITS LIFE (THIS IS PER IG!!!!!!!!!!!!) I WOULD START WITH ONE IG. THEY CANNOT BE HOUSED TOGETHER AFTER THEY ARE SEXUALLY MATURE BECAUSE THEY WILL FIGHT AND GET SERIOUS INJURIES WHICH CAUSE EXPENSIVE VET BILLS!! I SUGGEST YOU GET "IGUANAS FOR DUMMIES" BY MELISSA KALPAN AND READ BEFORE YOU GET AN IGUANA SO YOU CAN LEARN HOW TO PROPERLY TAKE CARE OF IT BEFORE YOU GET THE IGUANA. ALSO USE THE WEB FOR INFORMATION.
(I HAVE 2 JUVIE IGS HOUSED SEPERATLY. THEY DONT EVEN ROAM TOGETHER)

(SORRY ABOUT CAPS DIDNT NOTICE IT UNTIL I HAD ALREADY TYPED EVERYTHING)

slipperyjankens... you should stick to one water dragon for that tank... maybe. I could be wrong, it might still be too small. A bearded dragon, perhaps. Sandfish. Large anoles. Crested geckos. Gerbils. Ratsnakes. Acanthurus monitors. Things of that nature.
mommyof2greenigs... look at the screen, not the keyboard, silly!

The only thing a 55 gallon tank would be good for that I have experience with, is a single bearded dragon. You might be able to keep a single water dragon but I don't know enough about them to say for sure, I noticed you asking about water dragons below.

To keep 2 igs, be prepared to give over 2 rooms to your house. You're not going to be able to keep them together for very long, and as adults it may be impossible. I have a 6'x4'x3' enclosure that suited for rehab'ing an ig, but isn't big enough for a healthy adult ig. It might do to raise up a baby to a year, but I suspect not. A baby Ig might still fit in that tank at 6 mo but again, probably not, its going to be very squished by a year for sure.

Thanx alot for letting me know all this before i made a big mistake! Im just a college student and dont have enough space to give a whole room to an Iguana. I think im just gonna look into getting a bearded dragon.
thanx again

At least you went through all the trouble of finding out Beardies are wonderful! They are happy ALL the time, I adore mine. They're easy to keep, easy to tame, and a perfect size I think, esp for just hanging out. I'm very glad I have my lil guy, and that I had him before Tempest, otherwise I think I would have given up on the big nasty ig (who is now the big grumpy/sweet ig).
