rodgar Jul 22, 2003 09:22 PM

Hi:

I have a 22 days old constrictor, she haven’t shed the first time, but she already eat 2 mice, the first two weeks I was wetting the paper in the bottom of the cage but she pass the milky eyes with out shedding, she have now the second milky eyes “what can I do?” About the humidity I live in Dominican Republic so the humidity is always hi, around 80% right now is: Relative Humidity 93% and temperature is 23C (73F).

Thanks for the help

Rodrigo,

Don't worry. Your snake will shed. I don't know why it went through the clouded-eye phase without shedding in the past, but if the eyes are cloudy again now, wait 5 or 6 days and the snake will most likely shed.

Humidity sounds good. Your temps are a little low though. Your boa (regardless of species) needs an area of the cage with at least 85 degree temps. A good temperature gradient (regardless of sub-species) is upper 70's Fahrenheit on one side of the cage to lower 90's Fahrenheit on the other side.

Keep the humidity where it is, raise the temps, and be patient. Your little guy will shed soon.

Good luck.
