Whatcha think???

Misskiwi67 Nov 20, 2005 12:34 AM

Hey all,

I picked these two up at a local show. Yes, I know they have spinal "issues" and no they won't be bred. I fell in love with the colors and took them home as pet only. Let me know what you think. The red seems to be bleeding back in on one of them, and I was curious if you think the red will continue to bleed in and they'll start to look a little more normal colorwise???

i think it's gorgeous!don't have any pueblans now,but when i did,i had a hell of a time finding one with that real 'sockhead' appearence;even less luck finding an 'oreo' pueblan....plus yours is that pretty 'apricot' phase...very nice...doubt you'll see the red increase over time-all i've seeen is the opposite, the black overtaking the red,but never asy never, right?yeah as you know, spinal kinks are passed on genetically,so too bad breedings not recomended for them...pretty snakes, though

Spectacular snakes.

I'd try and breed them anyways.

Very beautiful snakes and I give ya alot of points for taking such snakes and not breeding them; great thing to do. Btw, HerperHelmz: breeding these would produce a clutch of spinal malformed babies, the same or mabey worse; seriously deformed snakes often can't function and some are necessarily put down.
Good luck with those snake and I hope you enjoy them; who produced these? Their just amazing.

I'm actually not sure who produced them. I picked them up at a local show, and lost the card in among all the other stuff I bought that day. I know I lost it because I tried to call and ask if they were feeding live or f/t. Luckily the buggers took f/t right away.

They were the only two in the clutch with spinal deformities, and they were the only two with the aberrant pattern. The owner assumed it was probably an incubation problem, which means neither the coloring OR the spinal problems are genetic. If I were to breed them, I'd probably get normal babies, and I'd risk the female getting egg-bound. Thats not a risk I'm willing to take, tempting as it is...

Go willpower! I'd like to see the snakes when they get older.

I'll post more photos as they grow. If everyone likes them, I'll be sure to show them off!!! I was actually expecting a more negative reception than the one I got because of the deformities. I must spend too much time on the ball python forum.
