SOIL IN MOUTH

RaverTanker Nov 20, 2005 02:24 AM

Hey guys, my condo is getting substrate (eco-earth soil) stuck in his mouth during eating his mice and it does not fall out for days. I tried to give him a bath to loosen it up and gently scraped some out using a pick and that helped a little, but I don't want this to become a problem. Is it okay for his lips to have soil inbetween them like that for a few days and will it just work itself out, or should I change the substrate immediately? Thanks in advance for your help.

i dont think that really good for your anaconda, i would say that your anaconda could not digest that if any was swallowed,
i would either feed out of the enclosure or change the substrate to something else.

I use eco-earth and have noticed the same thing but, my yellow rarely has any in his mouth after a few hours. Ive been using this substrate for over a year now with him. Hes never had any issues what so ever. I use a large rock in the center of his cage for feeding. I just toss a couple rats on it and he works his way over there. So its not like i toss the rat in the eco-earth. Maybe u could put something in there like a piece of tile to keep the food away from the bedding. I find eco-earth is very easy to clean and nhols humidity well. I love it.
