Is that cat litter it is on? It looks exactally like the litter I had picked up for my cat at walmart when I couldn't get to the pet store. I would seriously think about changing the substrate. He has nothing to dig around in, you know get some exercise. Just a suggestion.

My male blackthroat who dislikes people, like many monitors are normally.

My male flaviargus, so pretty, he likes people on the other side of the plexiglas, or on the other side of long hemostats with mice or peeps on the end of it.

My male storrs who now lives with and gets along with a female red ackie..

That feamle red ackie, I need to get some new pics of her, and older one.

Her kids,to her last cagemate, growing fast!!

My little girl, Sobek, my fiancee attempting to hold her.

The one that didnt like cagemates?

Also why put the female ackie in with him, rather then leaving her with her mate?

I cant remember when it was exactly, it was a shame he was doing great until the second clutch, then he started to lose his appetite, i added pinkies and fuzzies to his diet, he was doing good but acting different. After he appeared almost normal I left him to go back to his all cricket/roach diet and he died in a week. For what reason exactly, Im not sure, that was the same time period that I lost the other male monitors, no problems whatsoever with females or young monitors, just from the adult males at that time. I had found some problems that I took a guess at but cannot be positive as to what caused it, since then not a single problem.
I took the chance during a cage cleaning to introduce the 2 in a neutral territory, afterwards I tried in the ackies much bigger cage, they got along great, in fact the Storrs has never been so active and dug so many burrows since I got him, seems very happy to me, the 2 of them sleep together alot, eat together, hide together, bask together, so who am I to say they shouldnt live together.
I hope my ackie hatchlings are a pair, Ill be starting over with them if all goes well, so far they are growing so fast and so big so young. They get along good, they have an agreement set down, one is dominant, one is not.
I think maybe that the storrs may have been kept in a cage way too small with other problems before I got him, the former owner told a few things that needed changed for a pair of even tiny monitors to live together happily.
