Yes, for some reason the "red-&-blacks" are growing much faster than the "orange bellies" (maybe because of the poss. floridana background in the R-&-B?)i dunno? We'll see how big they are next year.

How do you do this do u pick them up while there eating and if so wouldn't they regurge

markg Nov 22, 2005 03:33 PM

I guess you don't keep getula? Once they start feeding, you can jump up and down all around them and not have an affect. No, they won't regurge. Don't try it with a rosyboa though.

JETZEN Nov 22, 2005 05:57 PM

Never a regurge but sometimes they will spit their food out when it's only half-swallowed.

it lost that orange;(,,ahwell thats still some sahweeeeet getula anyway ya cut it but man that orange!!! in adults that would be a sight for sure great series of pics john, thanks,,,,,,thomas davis

breeding for hi-orange in adults? I think selective breeding can produce amazing results. It may be my imagination but i think easterns/"goini"/floridana are getting more red/orange all the time.

thomas davis Nov 20, 2005 10:29 PM

thats a fab.idea and to an extent has been done with the blaze but sadly even they from what ive seen do fade as adults now bringin that orange into a allready red/hypo for consistantly red/orange adults would be the fashizzzzle forsure, screamin orange/red kings as adults uh,yeah sign me up,,,,,,,thomas

These beauties are from him. The male has washed out but the female is still vibrant orange. Second picture seems a little washed out from the flash. I'm hoping that this color can breed true.

That is "Desert Blend Lizard litter" i stopped using it cuz i changed my set-ups but i used it for a long time without any problems, it looks attractive in the enclosure, smells fresh, easy to clean, the only thing i'm not 100% on is if it's completely digestible, i'll be honest a lot of my snakes have ingested this stuff with food and they are still doing great, but that may just be luck...

I used that desert blend crap before, and a few of my kings ate on it no problem. I don't have a problem with it but it gets messy as all heck, but it looks great and I used it for my sindwinders & kings but it just gets way to messy. Plus it gave off a stinky wal nut smell. Yes the walnuts in a small quantity can be ingested but that was the only good thing about it. It just got everywhere and I replaced it with aspen. But your a pro and don't need to be warned I was just surprised when I saw someone actually was using what I used .

ZFelicien Nov 22, 2005 05:36 PM

i don't know what you mean when you say it gets messy... but i think it was pretty cool stuff when i used it, if i still used aquariums as enclosures i may have still been using this stuff.

i don't like aspen very much either, it may be the brand but it wasn't working for me, i like pine but now i use mainly newspaper, much easier to clean just throw it out... lol

have a good one
