Heating Racks

jarskie Nov 20, 2005 11:27 PM

I am about to start building my first rack, and wanted to know everyones opinion about the size of flexwatt that they use. I am going to be heating 5 Sterilite 1960's (34x16x6) going longways (vice sideways, so it will be the 16" side out). So the real question is 11" or 4"? What has provided the best heat distribution? The rack will be wood, and the room temp will be mid 70's. Any comments are appreciated! Oh, BTW, I looked this topic up and didn't really find anything, so Im just putting it out there, I didn't mindlessly post this. Thanks all~

I use the 11".

I suspect people use the smaller sizes for two reasons.

Belly heat for hatchlings.
or
They thread it through a rack with the side slots.

Coldthumb,
was just browsing through some old posts and remembered that I had asked this question. Thanks for the info, I ended up using 11" and everything works perfect. I should be posting some pics of the finished product, but I dont think its up to "posting par" yet, haha. Thanks again,

~Johnny
