trace of blood in pardalis stool

simias Nov 21, 2005 12:47 AM

At the end of her typically huge poop today, my 14 inch leopard had a bit of blood - just a trace amount, not present in any of the boli (chunks) passed before the last one. She eats an all-fiber diet, lawn grass, plenty of weeds and Calif sun. Should I be worried ? Have never seen it before.

Have you ever had her tested for parasites? Parasites can cause that.
Have you fed her anything that's red? I feed red prickly pear cactus berries to my tortoise & box turtles sometimes, that'll come out the other end looking like blood but it's just berry juice.

I agree with the previous post, and generally, this is not a concern. Things to watch out for are consistent sightings of blood, loose stool, decreased appetite, lethargy and/or weight loss. If none of these are apparent, then you're in the clear
