mealworm help

jaybfresh Jul 22, 2003 10:13 PM

hey,
I have 2 leos, and in the few months that i've had them, they haven't eat mealworms from a dish. They eat mealies if i put them within view on the ground, so i know the leos will take them. i leave the mealies in 24 hrs a day, but the leos dont seem to find them. does anyone have any suggestions to get the leos to eat mealworms from a dish?

I have the oposite problem...Since I use Lizard Litter (ground walnut shells) as substrate, the mealies blend in and the leos don't see them. When I feed, I use a small white dish, with calcium in it. I drop the mealworms in there, they roll in the calcium and that gets the leo's attention. I think the contrast in color helps them see them since not all mealworms are especially wiggly.

mabye you could put a trial of them to a bowl full or nudge your leo over to the bowl hope that helps.
