How much will they grow in a week? (baby mice)

pinatamonkey Jul 22, 2003 10:21 PM

I'll be leaving in the afternoon on the 25th and won't be back until afternoon August 1st. Problem is, I have 18 fuzzies that I don't know what to do with. I think if I leave them they'll be too big when I get back? (I want hoppers)...Say they're 8 grams now, how long does it usually take to double that size?

i've never actually weight one but at three weeks old baby mice are ready to weane so i'm guessing your's will be pretty close to weaning . but it depends on how many are feeding off each mom, how much milk each one gets as to how fast they grow

It depends on how far fuzzy are they....are they just getting color or have they got real fur but their eyes are closed? And, how big do you want for hoppers? I would think that, depending on their stage now, in a week they would be perfect.

The bigger litter have real fur...the smaller ones just have a light velvety fur and you can see the skin shine through. The oldest ones aren't older than a week and a half, and are probably a couple days younger. The smaller litter is a couple days younger still. All the moms (3) in there have had litters recently and are still nursing from what I can tell. As far as what size hoppers, I'm not quite sure. But right now, the smaller ones probably wouldn't leave a bulge in the smallest snakes I want hoppers for.
