I was just curious what happens if you feed a snake a pinkie that has been overthawed, or cooked. When they turn whiteish in color does this reduce the nutritional value?
Thanks in advance,
Don

I think he means turning white as they are thawed, and if so I don't know if It were to be safe. I only thaw them (pinkies) with hot water in a cup (Just thought of it myself one day) and they never turn white or close to white. Maybe when in the hot water they may have a creamy white appearance but they always remain pink when I take them out. Post a pic if you can.
I think the dude microwaved it to thaw it, and inadvertently cooked it. Then fed it to his snake. Now wants to know what will happen to his snake since it ate a non-raw pinkie...

Im talking about thawing them. The first one I ever thawed I saw it turned to a whitish state, much like that of chicken, the longer it was in the water. I didnt feed to my snake cause I heard somewhere that it was not good for the snake. I was just curious if there was reason behind it.
Thanks in advance,
Don

Did you use water from the tap or did you heat the water?
Water from the tap will not over heat or cook a prey item.
Unless your tap water gets EXTREMELY hot.
I have never noticed my pinkies turning white when thawing. They usually just stay pink or maybe even get a little pinker.
I think you did the right thing by getting rid of that one. It doesn't sound normal to me.
good luck next time
