OK,Today the pair recieved some meds. I belive it was Flagyl and Panacur[hope I spelled those correctly]. My buddies thought the one snake has a chance but the other is way worse than 3 days ago. Mucous in the mouth and lost a ton of weight. It is just withering away and we concluded a trip to the vet would not save that fella. If he survives it will be pure luck. The other one is doing better but to my horror it expelled the same god awful white runny mess the same as the extremely sick snake. I am not even sure where it came from......vomited or pooped out, regardless it is awful looking and smelling to say the least. This "dealer" who sent me the snake is heartless. No regard whatsoever for the poor snakes. He never returned my emails and will most likely appear again in the future. When he does I will alert as many people as I can so no one else gets beat like I did. By the way my friends also agree they look morel like wild caughts than captive bred. If these snakes live and actually produce white sideds I will consider it a gift from the snake gods. Honestly, a trip to the vet wouldve cost me as much as 3 to 4 times what I paid for the snakes, and if I thought they would've had a chance I would've tried that route. Unfortunately I don't have that kind of cash handy right now, especially for snakes that would most likely die anyways. The only thing I can say is thanks to my friends from the herp club for helping me out. I gave my buddy a great deal on some nice Creamsicles I produced in return for the favor. I will keep all interested posted on these animals, good or bad news. It was nice to have people care about these little guys, and to feel my pain so to speak and even better to want to help spread the word about this creep who sold me the snakes. In closing I have to say if you are not in a local herp club you should really look into joining one. There's many reasons to do so and this one is perfect example. I do not know how to administer proper dosage for a snake, and as I mentioned a trip to the vet was not affordable for me. These guys just may have saved one of these snakes. If not for them I would not know what to do? And yes I have many MANY years of keeping snakes under my belt, I just had great luck and never had to deal with a sick one. For christmas I am asking for a gram scale, microscope and a set of probes. AND some medical books for reptiles. Take care Tom
