Question obout feeding crab meat

beckkers Nov 22, 2005 12:26 AM

I have a 1 year old green water dragon who is on a diet of nightcrawlers and the occassional wax worm treat. He is givin collard greens once a week with the wax worms mixed in. I have been experimenting with different kinds of foods as treats for him amd was wondering if plain cooked crab meat is okay. He doesn't seem to like golfish.
Thanks, Becky

I would say that anything as a treat is okay. The problem arises when a food item becomes a staple part of the diet. Exessive protien can put higher demands on calcium in the diet. Likewise cooked foods have ash and carcingens that a waterdragon would not be acustomed too. The best foods are whole animals, that have a good calcium/phosphorus ratio.
