Woma keepers...need help!

cousinmike Nov 22, 2005 01:57 AM

I obtained a male woma that was an early '05 hatch about two weeks ago. He's got good size on him, and is an awesome snake. However he is refusing food. He was sold to me as a ravenous feeder, and I do'nt doubt it as he defacated shortly after I set him up, and has good body weight. He is at an appropriate temp(s), and has a hide box. He is very restless and is on the move a lot. Could he possibly want to breed? I've heard that womas will fast for long periods , so if this is the case, I wo'nt worry and will just wait him out. By the way, I just received a female '05 and he dwarfs her. Any info/advice would be greatly appreciated!
Cheers,
Mike Collalto

Let him settle in. Try not to handle hime or stress him out in any way. Just let him chill for a week or two and I bet he'll eat. Womas are pigs.

I doubt the animal is in breeding mode, way too soon if its an 05. I suspect hes just not ready to eat yet, let him settle in to his new digs and he should start eating. I would keep the two apart until they are closer to the same size, once that female takes off she will dwarf the male. My breeder male has not eaten for about 2 months now, hes in full coitus mode and wont even look at a rat, my female on the other hand will eat no matter what is going on, the only time she stops eating is to lay her eggs.
Cheers and good luck!
