no improvements so i took him to the vet to see what he had to say. he said a brown egg and no absorbing the placenta was a sign of infection in the belly button. i could try antibiotics but if it was already in his stomach cavity, which is more than likely was, then it was a lost cause. he said the chances of the little guy were really really bad and in his opinion it would be best to let him go, so i did.
i am a really big sap and i knew from the time i woke up this morning that the vet was going to tell me he needed to be euthanized so i pretty much had been crying since i woke up at 7:45 this morning so the vet knew i cared alot about the outcome of this so i think he told me the right thing. this was the first time i personally had to take an animal to be put down.
i feel a little better now, watching those two little fools in that cage. the one born on sunday weighs 2.1 grams and the one born yesterday weighs 2.4 grams. but now i am going to take a nap

and I am so sorry you had to go through that, Vonnie. I suspect you made the right decision, as difficult as it was. It is sad, but one of the realities of having pets. They normally don't outlive us and we have to decide whether they have a kind or prolonged death.
I was just thinking about last year and how badly you wanted to be a lizard grandmother. Congrats on your 5 babies this year and I am looking forward to lots more cute baby photos. Big lizard hugs to you.

Sorry, kiddo. I wish you hadn't been forced to make a decision like that. I know how tough it was for you.
