minifedawg Nov 22, 2005 01:48 PM

Hey guys , i am looking for soem help with my 95lb Female Green burm. She went into shed and has been leaking out some kind of brownish urine-like secretion. The thing that really worries me is that i looked under her tail and her orgain ,or hempimine is somewhat expose. She is very thick at the last 8-12 inches of her body. I cant get pics now , but i would appreciate any help.

Thanks

I could be wrong here but if you got somthing hanging out the end of your female i'd bet its male. And you have a problem...see a vet

Google a shot of a cloacal prolapse. It is brought on by a number of reasons, one being constipation or Ca shortage from egg production or rapid growth. You should (if you want to make a do it yourself at home diagnosis) flush the area with warm water to remove debris. Then using a small amount of ky-jelly or other non-oil based lubricant return the cloaca back to its original (internal) position like turning a sock inside out and see your vet right now. If it is a prolapse a vet will be able to determine if it should be stitched back into place and administer a course of antibiotics. Often though the delay of going to the vet causes the inside out organs to dry out and will cause tissue death. If she has been like this for some period and it is a cloacal prolapse it is probably already too late, as they have a lower survival after a few hours of exposure.

....from a VET! Seriously, this is not the place to be seeking veterinary advice; we can only make guesses and stabs in the dark but I would recommend that if you have a concern, get the animal to someone qualified who can do fecals and blood work. Just my .02.

mmm, bloodwork... I think that's my favorite thing to do at work

I diddo Rob's two cents so now you have four. All due respects to the other post's however as they did say to take it to the vet, albeit urgency lacked a bit.

Hey ,

I didnt see the responses to this thread. I took her to the Vet the night i posted this. The reason i posted this was to see if this was a common occurence and to see the magnitude of the situation. I understand this is not the place for Vet advice. But , either way she is doing better , i got her to relive herself with soaking and increased the cage temps.

Thanks for the help
