I would be interested in a good vet too. It's hard to find an good vet that deals with reptiles. I'm over in Huntington.

My girlfriend has had the same issue for a long time. We went to Academy Dog & Cat Hospital
73 West Merrick Road, Valley Stream, NY 11580
(516) 825-3066
but always hated the treatment and to us it seeemd like a typical "get 'em in, keep 'em a few weeks and charged 'em alot" type of place. And the treatment wasn't very good either (seemed like a whole lot of talk but no knowledge). Given that my girlfriend has quite a few reptiles (she has 7 and does all kinds of rescues) and we spent a crapload of money there, they were not at all thrilled when we threatend to take our business elsewhere.
They brought in a young Doctor by the name of Dr. Stensil (I hope I spelled it correctly). He owns herps and REALLY cares. He has traveled back to the office from his home in NJ for us (a 65 minute drive after just finishing a full shift) just because one of our iguanas sliced open a leg in a fight and my girlfriend cried on the phone! What he doesn't know, he actually researches. His true love is herps and it shows in his care. This is a man who genuinely cares and will do whatever it takes to keep your animal alive and well.
However, DO NOT let anyone else treat your animal. Tell them you want HIM, no one else. The rest of them talk the talk but speak dog and cat. When you meet him, tell him how you feel, what you expect and ask questions. I promise you will be pleased.
As I said, we are not fans of the Hospital, but this Doctor is the best! Dr. Stensil works at a number of different places (owned by the same Hospital) so you might find him closer to you if you ask.
Good luck.
