Unusual Scarlet King

coolhl7 Nov 23, 2005 03:50 PM

I caught his guy last year and I can't remember where in the western Panhandle of Florida except to say it was on protected land and I didn't keep him ....but The white patches on his lower side were snow white and very unusual. My main focus is high black SKs so PLEASE if anyone has one please post a photo!

I have never seen white bands here at all in western Florida Panhandle...just yellow/apricot/tangerine etc....this snake had 2-tone bands, yellowish on top and bone white on botton half.
I thought it was unusual, never having seen this before

I think I've seen 1 or 2 like that. Haven't really thought about it until now.

male or female?
do you still have him/her?

Ive caught a few within the past year but the bands never had that color change. Thats pretty interesting. Ive always wanted to keep one but never have, maybe some day in the future i will. I never find them anymore though. Heres a random picture of a Florida Scarlet snake, not king

This may be unrealistic but i have been thinking, i noticed there isnt that many people if any that actually breed Scarlet kings. I think if i collect a few females and males then i may start breeding them, because i never see them for sale as captive born, it may not happen but its a idea and i just thought i would tell everyone. They are some of the most amazing looking snakes, and not that many people even know about them, besides people on these forums.

Hi,

here is a little guy I hatched this year. Don't know if this is, what you are looking for and would call high black.

Yet he is in the beginning of changing his colors.

Greetings,

That is definitely what I call high black..and it was CBB????.I would love to breed some high blacks together and see if I could completely eliminate the red...I am not really into morphs but a black and yellow or black and white elapsoides really has that coral snake like appearance.
BTW, congrats on an excellent website and collection.
Its been 30 years since my college german class so I cant read much anymore but the collection and photos are great.
