Animal Plastics questions

Hello all, I was thinking about eventually purchasing a T50 for my burm, but thats a ways away. Before I drop four or five hundred on that, I thought I'd like to check out their products, so I'm looking at getting a T3 for my Ball. It measures 36x24x12 so he'll have plenty of room. My questions are for people who have owned these, what do you guys think about the "options". I.E. swing doors, or sliding glass or acrylic. I'm leaning towards the sliding glass doors, with one 8.5 inch hole on top. Also, does their belly heat option include the cable and thermostat? I've heard mostly good things about this company, and I like the idea that you can disassemble these cages. Anybody with experience please chime in.

Hello

I have their 6'x2'x2' enclosure with swing open doors and light fixture. I personally wouldn't have purchased it if I had known how warped the doors would become(this was not heat induced warping its due to lower quality plexi) Also it is harder to keep ambient temps properly and humidity at times has been a problem. Once I modified the heating and continually run a bulb in the enclosure the ambients are at an acceptable level but its a pain (If the bulb burns out the ambients drop dramatically even though the room is heated). If you do go with one of the larger enclosures I definetely suggest avoiding the swing doors, go with sliding.

Good luck.

Thanks for that info. I guess I'll definitely bet getting glass then, and I think that option only comes in sliding. What top options did you have? I think I'm going with one 8.5 inch hole to have a heat lamp sit on top of.

I use AP caging for all of my caging. They hold heat and humidity perfectly, but I personally dont like the heat cable. I use flexwatt on all of mine and it works great. I do use and like the heat cable in their racks but would perfer flexwatt. I beleive you will be very happy with an AP cage..

Only option I went with was the light fixture installed inside the enclosure. It wasn't something I needed or wanted the added options on. I didn't want heat cable because I use my own flexwatt cut to size. Also didn't want a light fixture hole since it was going into a stack.

Sounds good. I'm assuming since the Belly heat option is 45 bucks they include the heat cable? Or a rheostat? One last one, even with a hole up top would it be possible to stack them if i decided against using a light, or does it change the structural integrity too much? Thanks for all this info guys. I've decided to go ahead and purchase the cage as soon as I get all this down pat.

If the cages all have the same footprint you can stack them without a problem since the side walls are what would hold it.

So the cage comes with the cable?

I didn't order it since I prefer using flexwatt. You could also use ultratherm heat pads which are excellent.

Are the bottoms conductive? I have human heat pads that I've used with rubbermaids in the past, would that heat through the bottom of a "real" cage. This is my first foray out of plastic tubs.

The flexwatt I use heats nicely through the material. So you will get decent heating through it.
