Snake description question...

Br8knitOFF Nov 25, 2005 10:59 AM

Looking through the classifieds/ads for snakes for sale, often times people describe their snakes as being 1.1 or 2.1- what does that mean?

I've looked at different pics of the same species- the only differnece being that numerical difference.

Can anybody shed some light?

I've attached an example URL...

Thanks!

This is a very common question here.

The numbers refer to the sexes of the snakes (or any other animals for that matter). They are written as number of males- period-number of females-period-number of unknown gender.

So if you had a male cornsnake you could write

1.0 cornsnakes

A lone female would be

0.1 cornsnake

a breeding trio would be

1.2 cornsnakes

and if they had eleven offspring that you hadn't sexed you could say you have

1.2.11 cornsnakes
