Okay, make that the AZTEC Ball then .....

JohnBerry Nov 25, 2005 01:01 PM

For those who emailed and asked for another photo of what I was calling the Sunset Ball (see post below) ... here is a better photo showing off the dorsal stripe .... and thanks to Karl ... I think I'll go with the AZTEC Ball (as Brian BHB already has a Sunset Ball).

cheers, John

there are AZTEC corns......they are just a different form of zig-zag corns..worked on and created at about the same time period...

aztec corns have a zig-zag pattern with odditites about it usually.....they are not fully recessive gened......they are random.......kinda like a black back ball......some will have good black backed pattern kids and some will just have any ball patterns......

anyways........this one of yours is like a non-genetic striped....and ? harlequin colored???........

so if you call a ball an aztec people with think....cool...a zig-zag patterned ball with vertibral stripings kinda like .....you know...

.........

..........call it an Alpha ball?..........till proven to be something else.?........

I agree with jyohe, what would come to mind is black & white striped ball. Why would you call it aztec of all things??? Aztec is a nice word but doesn't make sense in comparison to your snake. Call it "street ball".

black and white I don't get?......anyways......

here .....one of the origional aztecs like F3 .....

JY may be on to something with a temp name.

On the one hand it needs some sort of name to talk about it for now and possibly even sell it under.

However, if there is a more radical homozygous form it might make sense to name it after that. The apparent homozygous spot nose for example. If that animal was imported first it would have gotten a more descriptive name than "super spot nose".

But then I suppose there is enough confusion without temporary names that get changed once we have a bigger picture of how the genes work. We are able to limp along with the confusing “lesser” and I suppose Aztec and Super Aztec will be ok too.

There is also an Aztec Boa now, and from what I've seen there has been no confusion brought on by what terminology is used in the corn market in regards to what this boa should look like. Take care

Thanks for choosing my suggestion of Aztec.
That snake is awesome.

Best Regards.

Aztec is easy to remember … I actually toyed with the idea of Mayan, Inca, Sunrise, etc, etc but as I really like the Aztec Boa (which isn’t black and white either), figured Karl’s suggestion worked for me.

I have heard through the grapevine there is a homozygous version …. I wouldn’t be surprised … guess time will tell ….. also looks like there a few very similar ones around. In the mean while she is feeding and growing like crazy …. I’m real happy with her !! Thanks for all your feedback.

Cheers, John
